Weston Bye’s Magnetic Clock
The magnetic clock was designed by Weston Bye and was presented in Digital Machinist Magazine . It is a brilliant design and a lot of thought has gone into supporting and arranging the myriad of parts into a working mechanism. There are no gears in the clock. The motion of the wheels is achieved by 160 magnets spread strategically over the many wheels. The magnets attract and repel each other to achieve the gear-like motion. The finish details are left up to the builder. I borrowed some aspects of my finish from others and added a few of my own. I anodized all of the colored parts and sand blasted the aluminum support columns.
